Rabbi Yosi bar Yaakov was one of the main students of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai. He was one of the nine students that participated in the Kabalistic gathering of the Idra Rabba. He passed away along with Rabbi Yessa and Rabbi Chizkiya in the middle of the Idra and angles were seen taking them away. Rabbi Yosi ben Yaakov is buried at the location of the Idra Rabba.
