Rabbi Yaakov Shimshon of Shepetovka was a student of the Maggid of Mezritch and Rabbi Pinchus of Karitz. He moved to Israel in 1799 and setteled in Tiberias. When Rebbe Nachman of Breslev visited Eretz Yisroel he met with Rabbi Yaakov Shimshon of Shepetovka.

Rabbi Yaakov Shimshon of Shepetovka is buried in the old cemetery of Tiberias amongst the Students of the Baal Shem Tov. His Tziyun is attached to the Tziyun of Rabbi Nachman of Hurdanker. His hillulah falls out on Gimmal (3rd) of Sivon.
