Rabbi Leib Baal HaYisurim was a leading student of Rabbi Shniur Zalman of Ladi. In his old age he moved to Israel and settled in Chevron, where he was one of the first from the Ashkenazi settlement of the city. After this he moved to Tzfat where he passed away on the 15th of Cheshvan 1837.
