Yehoyada Hakohen was the father of Binayahu, one of King Dovid's early warriors and a leading Kabbalist. Binayahu ben Yehoyada had a son Yehoyada the second who in-turn had a son Binayahu the second who served as head general of King Shlomo. During the reign of King Yoash, a descendent of theirs, Yehoyada the third served as Kohen Gadol and leader of the Jewish Nation.

Head of the Sanhedrin

Both Yehoyada Hakohen's were big Tzadikim. Either the original Yehoyada or his grandson served as the head of the Sanhedrin during the time of King Dovid. He was also manager of the Kohanim and would at times be the one to attain answers through the Urim Vtumim.

Kohen Gadol

According to some opinions Yehoyada temporarily served as Kohen Godel during the end of Shaul's reign and his son Ish Boshes, after Evyasar the last member of Achimeleche's family to survive the Nov massacre had run away with Dovid. Although Tadok technically deserved via lineage to replace Evyasar as it happened in the end, at that time he was still young so the leadership position of the Kohanim was given to Yehoyada.

Kever Yehoyada Hakohen

Yehoyada Hakohen is buried under Safed right above Wadi Amud. This is not the Kever of Yehoyada Kohen Gadol father of Zecharia Hanavi since he was buried along with the Kings of the House of Dovid.
