Abba Oshia Ish Tirya was a forth generation Eretz Yisroel Amora. He was born on the same day Rabbi Avin passed away and was considered to be his spiritual successor. For his livelihood, Rabbi Oshiya Ish Tariya worked as a laundry washer. He would wear garments spun from a specific type wool so people would be unable to accuse him of stealing threads from the cloths of his clients. When Rabbi Oshiya Ish Tariya passed away, his coffin was seen floating in the air.
Kever Rabbi Oshiya Ish Tariya
Rabbi Oshiya Ish Tariya is buried in Peki'in a little distance away from the cave or Rebbe Shimon bar Yochi. Right across the Wadi from him a Yeshiva was established for teenage boys. During the construction that took place when the Kever was remodeled an entrance to a cave was uncovered under the Tziyun. Often a Tziyun was built above a cave to mark the location of the Kever. Some people pledge to make a meal at the Kever for a minyan of people in honor of Rabbi Oshiya if they achieve their needed salvation.
