Transom windows are small windows which are installed atop another window or over a door. Transom windows may be installed above operating windows such as double hung windows or casement windows or as an accompaniment to the windows of a bay or bow unit. Transom windows may also be installed above non operating windows. They are generally rectangular in shape and function as an architectural conduit between the window that is below and the ceiling or eaves that are above. Transom windows can personalize a room and add height and style to an opening.
